Many candidates lose marks in Directed Writing because they copy everything from the stimulus material and rewrite them word for word as their answer. The examiner expects you to select only the information that answers the question and rewrite it using your own words. Selecting relevant material means identifying the ideas that are directly related to the writing task while leaving out unnecessary information.
