Types of Clues

1) Context Clues: This is when the words or phrases used enables the reader to understand the intended meaning and subsequently draw logical conclusions.

NB: The conclusion must not be drawn from outside knowledge or understanding of the topic as all answers are found in the short passages given. So reading must be in-between the lines for you not to miss out the correct answer.

2) Transitional words: These category of words are used to connect ideas in a paragraph in a logical manner. These are expressions like however, therefore, moreover, likewise, subsequently, indeed, in order words,  ultimately etc. to express similarity, contrast, clarification, emphasis, and conclusion just to list a few. So candidates have to lookout for these as they create a relationship between ideas in  the passage. This obviously send signals to the correct answers.

3) Synonyms and Paraphrasing will help you a great deal in your performance. Synonym as we all know are words that express the same meaning. This is to say a word or phrase can be replaced with another, but the intended meaning won’t change. This is obvious with SAT questions as some questions pivot around this trick .If it isn’t mastered, you won’t be able to select the correct option appropriately.
