Symbiotic Relationships

Symbiosis: This refers to any close association between any two organisms of different species in which either one or both organisms are benefiting.

Types Symbiotic Relationships
1. Mutualism
 This is a close association between two organisms of different species in which both organism benefit from the association Example: Algae and fungi (Lichen)

2. Commensalism
 This is a close association between two organisms of different species in which One benefits while the other is neither helped nor harmed. Example: Shark and Remora fish

3. Parasitism
 This is a close association between two organisms of different species in which One benefits while the host is harmed.
 Examples: Tapeworm in humans, Tick on cattle

Predation is different from parasitism because the predator kills its prey.
