EDITING A TALK
A talk is a lecture on a serious or specialised subject or topic. It’s an informal lecture about a subject given or delivered by a person considered to have more knowledge about the subject. It’s similar to a speech but begins with a simple greeting, which is part of the first paragraph and is immediately followed by a statement of the purpose of the talk. There is a heading describing the subject, that is, what is to be said, and who is going to deliver it. For example:

Ways of Beginning a Talk
A) Good morning, ladies and gentlemen. It’s a privilege for me to talk to you on the need for a vaccine for HIV.
B) Good morning, ladies and gentlemen. The focus of my talk is on …
C) Ladies and gentlemen, good afternoon, and welcome to this occasion. My talk is on the need for a vaccine.
D) Ladies and gentlemen, I wish to talk to you on the need for vaccines.
Ways of Ending a Talk
A talk also has a simple ending, which is normally a separate paragraph or line.
