- Bites and Stings
Bee Stings
- Remove the sting carefully using tweezers or your first finger and thumb.
- Neutralize the toxin by dabbing a base such as weak ammonia or sodium bicarbonate on the stung area.
Wasp Stings
- Treat with lemon juice or dilute ethanoic acid (vinegar).
Snake Bite
- Kill the snake if possible and take it to the hospital for identification, because antivenom is specific to the type of snake.
- Do not cause more panic in the victim, as this increases the heartbeat and speeds venom spread.
- Incise (cut) the wound to let blood ooze out, carrying some of the venom with it.
- Draw the blood out with the mouth and spit it out rapidly (avoid if you have cuts/sores in the mouth).
- Tie a tourniquet below the bite and at two places above the fanged spot.
- Rush the victim to the hospital immediately.
