EDITING MINUTES OF A MEETING

Minutes are records of a meeting held. The minutes of a meeting are a summary of issues discoursed during the meeting. Minutes are taken by a secretary, and have the following characteristics: minutes should start with a heading indicating the purpose, the venue and the date of the meeting. The content should include the purpose of the meeting, the list of people present and if they were so many the secretary will state the number of those present, also note any apologies of absence, if there are any, matters arising from the previous meeting. Attention is focused on collective opinion as opposed to individual opinion. The minutes should contain only the main points or resolutions taken at the meeting. They should be brief, consistent and clear. The minutes should be written in the past tense or reported speech. Minutes must also contain an agenda, an agenda is a written list of items to be treated or discoursed in the meeting. The minutes should end with the name of the secretary written one line below the minutes at the left.
