Dear Schoolmates,

As we commemorate the International Literacy Day, I am happy to stand here as the Senior Prefect Boy of this school to address a very important aspect of our learning process that most of us are in the habit of neglecting. This has to do with the importance of reading. Reading is one of the best habits every learner should develop because it does not only increase knowledge but also, improve our language skills greatly. Firstly, reading helps us perform better in examinations by exposing us to new ideas as well as new vocabulary. Again, reading well helps in improving our communication skills and in enabling us to express ourselves confidently, everywhere and every time. Furthermore, a mastery of reading develops our imagination and creativity prowess and enables us to excel even in other areas of life. Finally, regular reading broadens our understanding of the world around us and prepares us properly for future careers. To conclude, let us cultivate the good habit of reading because successful readers are successful leaders.
