  • In our everyday use of the English Language, we make use of a wide range of modal verbs for specific purposes. Using modal verbs correctly makes both written and spoken English more effective, as they allow us to express ideas clearly and precisely.
  • The next parts of our lesson will explain and illustrate the role of modal verbs in sentences. But first, let us understand what modal verbs mean.

Course Content

Exercises I – Read the passage carefully and answer the questions that follow by picking out the letter with the correct answer.
Last weekend, we were preparing for a family meeting. The meeting was expected to begin at 10. A.m but heavy rains started. The family head came out and said "everyone must remain in the community hall until the rain stops". The riverid rising and it could be dangerous to cross. The parents whose children were still at home were worried. My aunt in distress said it may rain for several or more hours" and another replied that it might continue until evening. Obviously, the speculations kept everyone moody It was proposed by our Eldest uncle that someone should be sent to check on the children but nobody must cross the river. Then My cousin asked " shall I go with Farrock and Wright to check on the children"? The family head answered" Yes you will go with them, but you must be careful "
